TWO COMMISSIONERS.
SALVATION ARMY WORK. OPERATIONS IN AUSTRALIA. Commissioner F. Adams, in charge of the Salvation Army work in New Zealand, and other prominent Salvation Army officers, met the Mariposa when the liner berthed at Auckland to-day to welcome Commissioner B. Orames, who is on hit) way back to San Francisco after an extended visit to Australia, where he investigated the Army's work in New South Wales and Victoria.
Splendid work was being done by the organisation throughout Australia, he said, and there had been a big development of orphanage work, which had been favourably commented upon by the Government officials. In the United States the commissioner lias charge of work in eleven States, and also tho Hawaiian . Islands. He was previously stationed at Peiping, in China.
"My wife is New Zealand born," said Commissioner Orames. "Hokitikrt lias produced two great j,e»>i>lo—the late Mr. Richard Seddoli and my wife."
Lieutenant-Colonel W. .1. Home, of the Salvation Army in Wellington, who has been on a visit to Australia, was also on the Mariposa.
Commissioner Adams said he was very pleased with the development of the work in the Dominion. The membership last year had increased by three hundred soldiers.
