Starlets Announce Fathers' Week

Dear Peter Pan and Wendy—

Last week, although Shirley did not «ay so in her letter, wu Fathers* Week, and each member of our club was asked to interest father in our big effort, hoping he would give a small donation. Well, the amount we received in money was not very much, but, would you believe it, Peter Pan and Wendy, those very same fathers were working and planning to spring surprises on us later.

The first big surprise came yesterday. When Shirley came to our meeting she carried a huge parcel, and when it was opened up it was a most beautiful polished wooden box, complete with a drawer and ornamented with a big wooden bird on top, which, in a very ingenious way, holds scissors, pins and needles, etc., while all its other accessories have been arranged in a very attractive manner. We do thank Mr, Siigden most sincerely for what he has done for us. We feel sure that Mrs. Sugden had a hand in the arranging of all the accessories. If we all do our bit Mr. Sugden' s beautiful box will mean £3 18/ to our funds..

A second father (you will hear more of him later) is icing a big fruit cake for us. 'Mother" is making the cake, but the main part is rather icing it.

Yet another father we know is going to be busy tidying up his> garden and mowing his lawns next week in readiness for one of our biggest events. This father has already given a donation and rumour is afloat that another is wearing his thinking cap. The 2/ enclosed has been collected from several of our fathers.

BERYL McKENZIE.
