Form worked out well and five favourites were successful, the biggest surprise being registered by Pot Luck in the Louisson Handicap, beating King's Play, who tangled just off the post.

The weather was fine and there was again a large attendance. The totalisatur handled the sum of £114,1)41}, compared with £5»,2nU 10/ on the final day last year, an increase of £.Vl7:i 10/. The Dominion Handicap, which is the principal race for unhoppled trotters in Ni'W Zealand, provided an excellent contest and a wonderful finish. The pace -was slow in the eariy stages, with the result that the baekmill'kers, VVaikuto Prince and Wahnooka, took the lend when seven furlongs had been covered. Tliey raced nock and neck for the rest of tho journey, being followed into the straight by Flotsam, Garner and Norman Fox. In a stirring finish all down the straight VVaikuto Prince beat Wahnooka by a length, with Norman Fox half a length away third, Waikato Prince carried £1180 and £1185, Wahnooka £1255 10/ and £1180 10/, and Norman Fox £57 10/ and £320. Favourite Seorts. A hot favourite, Tnonik justified the support accorded him by winning the Australasian Handicap in convincing style after being well placed all the way. Ginger Jack was responsible for the puce and it was not until 100 yards from home that Toorak had his measure. The third horse, Belle Gritttan, showed a great burst of speed to finish where she did after making a bad beginning. Waipahi and Repeal had every chance, but Celebrity might have troubled the winner had she not made a break when she had travelled four furlongs. Greenmantle and Treasure Bond spoilt their chances by breaking at the start. Toorak carried £1241 and £084 10/, Ginger Jack £222 and £550, and Belle Grattan £167 10/ and £301 10/.

,Ie« The Frtt-for-AII. »"•»«' t The Free-for-All was responsible for the ~, sensational defeat of the champion Indianapolis, who took the lead with a round to ho. He held his position to the straight entrance, where Roi l'Or, Bonny Azure and Lucky Jack began to tackle him, and in a fighting finish he wns well i'y£ beaten into fifth place. The winner, Z Supertax, was sixth when the field settled *> . down and still had ground to make up 3 when they entered the straight.
