Following the formation of a Fellowship of Methodist Women the standing committee held ito first meeting at the Ritz yesterday afternoon. There were present Mrs. W. A. Cooke, Mrs. George Frost, Mrs. A. D. Whitehead, Mrs. K. J. Rosser and Mrs. George Smith.
Mrs. Frost opened the meeting with a short prayer, after which Mrs. Cooke was elected as president for this year and Mrs. G. Smith as secretary and treasurer. It was unanimously decided to add another member to the committee and that she be from the Avondale circuit.
After some discussion the proposal that two members of the committee retire each year and be replaced by two members from guilds not now represented on-the committee- (preferably the president or secretary) was carried. With a View to helping church workers in the country tha secretary was empowered to get In touch with the superintendent of home missions and secure names of backblock workers who would welcome association With the fellowship. It was decided to meet quarterly, the next meeting to be held on February 4, 1938.
