BLAST IN FACE.
BUSHMAN BADLY INJURED.
ESCAPED LOSIXG EYESIGHT. (By Telegraph.— Own Correspondent.) TAUMARUNUI, this day. Using explosives to blow up stumps on a tramline about a mile from Messrs. Ellis and Biirnands' sawmill at Waimiha yesterday, a bus.liman, Mr. John Hyde, was seriously injured in the face.
Two other hushmen. who were working nearby, rushed to his assistance, and although his face was black with powder and bleeding from lacerations, and be was suffering from other injuries and shock, he was able to walk to the mill, where lie was given first aid. After the injured man had been bandaged he was brought to the Taumarunui Hospital. It was feared that he would lose his eyesight, but he was able to see when the bandages were removed.
