NATIONAL DECISIONS

REPORT BY DELEGATE.

MANAWATU PERSISTENT. BRABIN CUP AT CHRISTMAS. Decisions made at the annual meeting of the Kew Zealand Cricket Council were reported upon last evening to the Auckland Cricket Association by the Auckland delegate, Mr. W. G. Miller. He said that Canterbury had been "£P < *' e d to the eight-ball over for I'lunket Shield matches, but had decided eventually to withdraw opposition. The eight-bail over was to be observed in all matches. It had been decided to introduce a twominute limit for batsmen going to the wickets, but that umpires would be able to receive a reasonable excuse from a dilatory batsman. Mr. Miller said that Manawatu had succeeded in passing a resolution to investigate the possibilities of a fifth I'lunket Shield district, comprising the Wellington minor associations. Arrangements had been made for a Hawke Cup competition on an elimination basis. The new leg before rule was to apply t > all matches. Mr. W. R. Fee (chairman), who has u ° ? en on . a to Christchurch, said that the scoring in one-day cricket there had not seemed much faster than in Auckland.

The Wellington Association suggested December 27 and 28 as suitable dates for the Auckland-Wellington junior representative match for the Brabin Cup. The matter was referred to Mr. K. J. J'rice. A report was received that a modern tractor and mower lia4 been secured lor use at Eden I'ark.
