WOMEN'S ASSOCIATION.

BIRKENHEAD CLOSES SESSION.

There was a large gathering in the returned soldiers' hall last night on the occasion of the social to mark the close of the 1937 session of the Birkenhead Women's Association. The gathering was welcomed by the president, Mrs. E. J. Osborne, Mayoress of Birkenhead.. In appreciation of the efficient discharge of their respective offices, bouquets were presented to the president, Mrs. E. J. Osborne; the secretary, Mrs. Walter Williams; the treasurer, Mrs. Mooney; and the producer of the dramatic circle, Mrs. A. E. Wood. An enjoyable programme was presented, songs being contributed by Mesdames R. Davies and Coldicutt, and Mr. T. Coyle. The accompaniments were played by Mesdames Harvey White and Walter Williams. Two oneact plays were given by members of the dramatic circle, the producer being Mrs. A. E. Wood. On behalf of the visitors Mrs. Archie Campbell, president of the Northcote Progressive League and Northcote Plunket committee, conveyed thanks for the enjoyable entertainment provided.
