WRESTLING TOURNEY.
BLOMFIELD'S SEMI-FINAL
| Getting now into the final stage« the New Zealand professional wrestling championship tournament has reached an interesting position, particularly as it affects the Auckland contender "Lofty" Jlloinheld, who has up to this tournament been credited with the title. After a strong lead at the beginning of the tournament Blomfield has had several upsets recently, and during the past two weeks "Jolting" Joe Woods has jumped ahead of him in the points list. On Monday Blomfield will be matched at the Town Hall against Don Noland, and on the result of this match depends his chance in the tournament—and his chance of a match for the world championship. He will need a win on Monday night by the maximum number of points to place him in a favourable position against Woods, and thU will be hard to obtain from the rugged Nebraskan. Noland is one of the strongest wrestlers in the tournament, with a great deal of experience to assist him. He gained a victory over Blomfield as recently as last Monday, and he will bring all his resources to bear against Blomfield on this occasion. Whether he will concentrate on the variety of scissors holds that he has mastered or will wear down the opposition by the rugged measures that he favoured so strongly during his matches in Australia earlier in the year remains to be seen, but whatever the form of his attack lie wi'l need to be resnected all the t ; '»e. No one knows this better than Blomfield. and the New Ze.ilander will be making his srrlatest oflfort of t.)ie Reason.
