FOOTBALL SOCIAL.
OTAHUHU RUGBY LEAGUE,
Well organised, the social evening of the Otahuhu Rovers' Rugby League, held to eoinmemoratf the winning of championships by the third and fifth grade teams, was a pronounced success and a fitting reward for the excellent arrangements of a very energetic committei. There was an attendance at the Otahuhu Public Hall of approximately 300 supporters.
The guests were welcomed by the chairman of the club, Mr. J. Clark, and the Auckland Rugby League was represented by Mr. I. Culpan, and the ladies' committee by Mrs. I. Culpan, whilsfMr. Dickey represented the Auckland League Primary Schools' Committee. Mr. H. T. Clement* presented caps won by members of the third and fifth grade teams, and the captains of each of the teams received the shields for the respective championships. A trophy for the most conscientious seventh grade player, donated .by Mr. Kay, was won by M. Miles, and E. McManus won the Porteous Medal for the best schoolboy player. Mr. Con Hall, coach of the third grade team, was handed a special gift by the captain, and Mr. J. Clark made a presentation to Mrs. Hall. Mr. Hall replied and paid a special tribute to the work of Mr. Jim Clark. During the evening items were contributed by Misses Bennett, Arnold and Eddelsen, Messrs. Mason, Mann, Hickson, Brennan. Ross, Jury, Campbell and Scorrigan.
The ladies' committee responsible for the very fine arrangements was:—Mrs. Mullins (convener), Mesdames Hart, W. Arnold, McDonald, Bennett, McManus, Wells, Pilkington, Gordon Hart, and Misses Mullins (2) and Mclnnes. i r - W. Whitelavv was masted of cere- , monies.
