THE FINAL MATCH.

MAORIS PLAY AUCKLAND.

GEORGE tfEPIA TO APPEAR.

A gala day will be held at Carlaw Park to-morrow afternoon, when the big attraction will be a match between the Maori and Auckland teams. The senior B final between Papakura and Green Lane will also be played.

The object of the gala is to assist la the formation of an injured players' fund.

A mock court will be held at 2 p.m. and it will be followed by American basketball, novelty events, athletics and a display by a Maori concert party. Selections will be played by the Ponsonby Boys' Band and the City Silver Band. The match between the Auckland representative side and the Maori team is causing wide interest and a bright exposition of the code in anticipated. The Auckland team is a strong one, the Maori team will contain some of the leading players in Auckland, and with combination they should be capable of giving a very colourful display. George Nepia, the wellknown full-back, will appear for the Maori team and his play will be keenly watched in view of the outstanding exhibitions he gave against the touring Australian team earlier in the season.

The main match is for the Max Jaffe Cup.

The selected teams for the representative match are:—

Backs.—Xepia, Tawhai, Rata, Wilson, T. Chase, Bickerton, Mahima, AV. Brimble. Forwards. — Tristam, McLeod, Cootes, Brodrick, Mitchell, Raymond, Proctor.

THE KANGAROOS.

ENGLISH XIII. FOR FIRST TEST. (Received 10 a.m.) LONDON, October 7. The team to represent England against Australia, in the first Rugby League Test, at Leeds, on October 16, will be: — Full-back: Belshaw. Three-quarters: Cunniffe, Croston, Riaman, Edwards. Halves: Jenkins: McCue. Forwards: Silcock, Armitt, Woods, Arkwrigbt, Hodgson, Beverley. Since reaching England the Kangaroos have won four games and lost two (Lancashire and Halifax in succession). The fixtures preceding the Test are: To-morrow, v. Wakefield; Wednesday, v. Rochdale.

| CONTRACT FOR F. TOTTEY. SYDNEY, October 7. A report received In Sydney from London states that Kred Tottey, Australian Rugby league player, l;n» signed up with Halifax under a four years' contract.

Tottey was one of the first players selected to tour England and France with the Australian Uugby League team, but ne had the misfortune to Injure his ankle prior to the side leaving Australia, and failed to pass the medical test. However, nlipn the Australian team reached Auckland on Its way to England, Tottey was permitted to join the side on the understanding that the remnining Australian players would defray the cost of his trip. It was not anticipated. however, that Tottey would be asked to take part in any of the Australians' matches.
