Refusal by Taranaki master bakers to be represented by the appointed »««a«isors and the withdrawal of the Taranaki employers' representative from proceedings marked the opening to-day of the Conciliation Council hearing of the Dominion bakers' dispute.

Wr. 8. S. Green said that Taranaki master bakers declined to be represented by the assessors appointed and applied to be struck out. They would not recognise any agreement signed by the present assessors unless such agreement ■wnn first approved by them.

The Commissioner (Mr. Ritchie) said that if the Taranaki bakers wished to have any eay in the making of the award they would be well advised to make some representation to some of the assessors appointed, so that any particular matter they wished discussed could be presented to the council by the assessors. There was no power for the Taranaki bakers to withdraw. They were cited •h parties to the proceedings.

Mr. Green said that Taranaki would present its cane to the Arbitration Court.
