GRAIN AND PRODUCE.
SHORTAGE OF BRAN
CALIFORNTAN ONIONS
Since last report a chief feature hae been a continued ehortage of bran. Millere are producing more offal than in recent years, but the demand for bran hae been greater than usual and orders have to be carefully rationed. An easing in the Australian "pollard market hae resulted in local quotations being reduced 10/ per ton.
Horse feed sells steadily, with no change in the price of chaff, while B Garton oats are quoted from 4/9 to 4/10 per bushel, a penny reduction. There has been no alteration in the price of either wheat, maize or barley. A fresh shipment of Australian wheat is expected in three weeks, by which time local stocks will be fairly short. With the advent of milder weather the demand for maize is slackening off. There line been little alteration in the market for southern potatoes. Supplies during the past week have not been heavy and local stocks are failly light. There is still a healthy demand, which is expected to last, though at a decreasing rate, for another three weeks.
