CROQUET CLUBS.
St. Helier's.— The official opening of the St. Helier's Buy Croquet Club was held at the greens this week. The president. Mrs. H. Goldsbro, welcomed the membere and friends, and in a short sjieech after playing the first ball declared the greens open. Progressive croquet was played. The winners were: Mrs. Keye (A). Mrs. G. Laslett (B), Mrs. Skene (hidden number). Epsom.—The Epsom Croquet Club's lawns were officially opened last week, the president, Mis. C. J. Blakey, receiving the guests. On behalf of the members she was presented with a bonquet. Mrs. Rogers, hon> secretary, also received a bouquet. Mr. Phelan. chairman of the parks committee, congratulated the club and spoke of the game of croquet as a healthful pastime. Mr. Coakley and Mr. Sayegh. and Mr. T. Aldridge, superintendent of parks, also spoke. Mre. Webber, president of the Auckland Croquet Association, brought good willies to tlie club.
I Mount Albert. —The Mount Albert Croquet Club held the final of its series of bridge and 500 afternoons in the bowline pavilion last week. The president. Mrs. Forsyth. welcomed the players and presented the prizes to the winners as follower Brirljre. Mm. Kin? and Mrs. Henderson; 500, Mrs. Harrie and Mrs. Seott; competition. Mrs. Ellis. Helensville.—Through the jrenerosity of Mrs. James Maekie an enjoyable bridjre afternoon was spent at her residence, Wharepapa, recently. Flap bridge was played in the drawing roonT which was decorated with bowle of spring flowers. The winning team was Mesdames Eennie, Hoist and Birnie. and the consolation Mesdames Lambert, Staiiaway and. Stringer.
