WIDE SYMPATHY.

MOTOR TRAGEDY VICTIMS.

HUNTLY MINES CLOSED. (From Our Correspondent.) HUNTLY, Monday. All the mines in the Huntly district wpre closed to-day as a mark of respect for the six victims of the motoring fatality at Waingaro on Saturday afternoon. Over 2000 people attended the funeral, 200 motor vehicles following the two hearses.

There were three graves. The bodies of Mr. J. N. Adams and his two grandchildren, Thelma and Betty Dellaway, were interred together, while those of Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Cole were lowered into one grave. The body of the girl, Irene Nellie Cole, was buried with that of her brother, Mr. William Cole, who died at Waingaro in similar circumstances to those attending Saturday's tragedy.

The service over the remains of the Cole family was read by the Rev. E. R. Wright, vicar of Huntly, while that over the remains of Mr. Adams and his grandchildren was read by the Rev. A. Ashwin, Presbyterian missioner at Pukemiro.

Among those present at the graveside were the Mayor of Huntly, Mr. W. C. E. George, and members of the Huntly Borough Council, members of the Northern Miners' Union Council, representatives of the coal companies of the district, the Returned Soldiers' Association and the Buffaloes' and Druids' Lodges. The funeral was the largest and most impressive held in Huntly since the Huntly mine disaster of 1914. The congestion outside the cemetery gates caused a minor traffic problem on the Main South Road, which runs past the Kimihia graveyard.
