PHILISTINES' CLUB.
AN EXCELLENT PROGRAMME. Professor Maxwell Walker was the chairman at the Philistine Revel held at the Amateur Operatic Society's Hall on Saturday night. The programme included a vocal duet by Miss Gwenda Weir and Mr. Robert Simmers; violin solos by Mr. Roy Walker; songs by Miss Mavis Beadle and Mr. Frank Sutherland; and 'cello solos by Mr. Eric Laird. A play entitled, "No, Not the Russians," was presented. Those taking part were Miss K. Kennedy, Miss Beth Lamb, Miss F. Eccles, Mr. John Reid and Mr. Howard Newcombe. The accompanists for the evening were Mrs. Reg. Reed, Miss Armour and Mr. Eric Maxwell. Among those present were: Mesdames Myers, C. E. Clark, Jock Allen, Oscar Boak, H. T. King, H. McKenzie, C. D.
