PAEROA RACING.

PHILEMUP SCORES. L'ALLEGRO TAKES DOUBLE MISS TB XOITOA IK FORM. The Tanmarumii Jockey Club's spring meeting is being concluded at Taeroa to-day in wet weather. Rain began to fafl just before the first race, but the going is in good order. There is also a good attendance. Favourite Scores. Making her first appearance for some time Miss Te Koura was installed a staunch favourite for the Rotokohu Handicap, and justified expectations by winning comfortably. Slam was always well placed and hung on well for second place, while Raeeline was responsible for a useful effort. High Sea was never in a winning position. The start was delayed a few minutes by the fractiousness of several horses, and Feldberg was the smartest to begin from Miss Te Koura, but the latter soon took charge, being the pilot across the top from 'Slam, Feldberg, Little Idea, Highland Queen, Raeeline and Flash By. Miss Te Koura then drew clear and held a good advantage as they turned for home, where the order following was Slam, Seven Seas, Feldberg. Highland Queen and Little Idea. Nothing 'had a chance with Miss Te Koura and she went on to win decisively by two lengths from Slam, who beat Raeeline by a length. Then came Seven Seas, Highland Queen, Feldberg and Tralee Rose.

The Hurdles. After his victory on the first day L'Allegro was made a hot favourite for the Second Hurdles, arid duly materialised. He did not jump too well but his pace on the flat assisted him to beat Count Roussillion. who made a very game effort. Simint went a useful race, but the issue was really confined to the first and second horses. Simint was the leader when the field settled down, and passing the stands was showing the way to Count Roussillion, L'Allegro, Siwell, Sandy Mountain, Bryce Street, Floodlight and Con Fuoco, but the lastnamed came to grief at the hurdle going out of the straight. L'Allegro was just ahead of Count Roussillion as they raced along the back, but Count Roussillion had headed him before the top was reached, where the pair were followed by Simint and Siwell, with a gap to the others. There was no change into the straight, and in a fine finish L'Allegro's superior pace enalttert him to beat Count Roussillion by a nc*, with a length and a half to Simint. Next to finish were Siwell, Sandy Mountain, Bryce Street and Floodlight.

An Overdue Win. Philemup gained an overdue win when he scored in the October Handicap, as the gelding has been off the winning list for some time. Gay Streak made a fine effort to carry his backers through, and only weakened in the last little bit, after looking a winner. Hopalong attempted to lead all the way. but stopped in the la«t furlong. As the field passed the stands Ringshot was in the van from Hopalong, Philemup, Gay Streak, Dutch Girl, Hikutaia, The Vamp and Kena. Hopalong then ran to the front, and across the top was just showing out from Ringshot, Gay Streak and Hikutaia, who were all on terms, and then close handy were The Vamp and Philemup. The order into the straight was Hopalong, Gay Streak, Ringshot, Hikutaia and Philemup. Oay Streak then took command, but failed to hold off Philemup. who put in a great run on the outside in the last half-furlong. Hopalong was a length and a half away third, with Hingshot fourth: then came Dutch Girl, The Vamp and Hikutaia.
