OFFICERS' RESIGNATIONS. WAIHI A. AND P. ASSOCIATION. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) WAIHI, this day. The resignations of the executive of the Waihi Agricultural and Pastoral Association were received at a meeting of the association last evening, but were not accepted. The meeting was convened for the purpose of considering certain alterations in the constitution of the issociation, which were discussed at a previous meeting, with a view to holding the election of councillors at the annual general meeting instead of giving seven days' notice as at present, and to consider the resignations of the executive officers, which were also discussed at the previous meeting. Mr. A. H. Blackmore presided. On the motion of Mr. F. C. V. Clark it was decided that the election of councillors should take place at the annual general meetings, and that the necessary steps should be taken to alter the rule governing the election of officers. The resignations of the executive then followed, the first being Mr. Blackmore and the vice-presidents, Messrs. Otto Bierring and E. A. Wilson. The resignations were not accepted. Next followed the resignations of members of the council, who expressed a willingness to stand again, with the exception of Mesdames Blackmore and Irvine. With these exceptions the council was reelected, and Messrs. L. G. Martyn (Whangamata) and C. Hewson (Waihi) were elected to fill th© vacancies.
The Paparoa Coal Company (South Island), having been unable to secure an increase in its orders for coal for the railways, announced yesterday that about 30 men will receive notice of dismissal on Monday or Tuesday, unless there is a material change in the position before then.
