The Two Thousand Guineas, run at Newmarket in April, was won by Le Ksar from Goya 11., with Mid-day Sun third. Fair Copy, Sultan Mahomed and Sandsprite were unplaced. In the Derby at Epsom the following month Mid-day Sun beat Sandsprite by a length and a half, with Le Grand third and Perifox fourth. Cash Book, Goya 11., Solfo, Full Sail and Renardo also started in that event. Mid-day Sun subsequently won the Hardwicke Stakes, one mile and a half, at Ascot, while Goyn 11. accounted for the St. James' Palace Stakes, one mile, at the same fixture. Cash Book won the Newmarket Stakes, one mile and a quarter in May, which is his best performance, while Senor was second in the Irish Derby, run at Curragh in June. Sweet Content was third in the Oaks Trial, one mile and a half, at Lingfield Park in May and was second in the Oaks at Epsom. Fair Copy was second to Cash Book iu the Newmarket Stakes and also occupied a similar position in the Jersey Stakes, seven furlongs, at Ascot. Chulmleigh has nothing to his credit, while Double Bracket has performed consistently this season. He won the Durham Plate, ons mile, at Leicester in his first start and after finishing second in the Stockil Maiden, one mile and a quarter, at Doncaster, he won the Roseberry Maiden, one mile, at Stockton. He was third in the Royal Stakes, one mile and 110 yds, at Epsom and filled a similar position over a mile at Newcastle. Sultan Mahomed was second to Solfo in the King Edward Stakes, one. mile and a half, at Ascot, •while Snow Leopard was second over a mile and a quarter at Windsor and occupied a similar place in the Stetehworth Stakes, one mile and a half, at Newmarket. Full Sail, after being runner-up to Goya 11. in the St. James' Palace Stakes at Ascot, won the Sandringham Foal Plate, one mile and a quarter, at Sandown Park. Renardo was successful in the Hastings Stakes, one mile and a quarter, at the Newmarket first spring fixture, while Maranta has little form. Perifox, the favourite for the race, after being second to Renardo in the Hastings Stakes, won the Payne Stakes, one mile and a half, at Newmarket and. as stated above, was fourth in the Derby.
