HIGHER WAGES.
FREEZING WORKERS' CLAIMS 40-HOUR WEEK ALSO WANTED. Tentative claims, for a Dominion award which were framed at a recent conference of representatives of freezing workers throughout Xew Zealand, have now been approved by the various unions throughout the country, and the new demands will be filed in Wellington, and circulated to employers in the immediate future. The workers are seeking increases in wages, numerous alterations to existing conditions, and a 40-hour week instead of the 44-hour week at present worked.
