SUCCESSFUL SEASON.

WAIPA RACING CLUB. THE ANNUAL REPORT. The twenty-second annual report of the Waipa Racing Club discloses a very satisfactory position, and the chairman of the committeej Mr. J. T. Young, says that, in common with other clubs, Waipa is sharing in the increased spending power of the people. As a result the committee has been able to make several improvement®, while further improvements are contemplated, it is pleasing to note that the membership is steadily increasing, and with the improvement in finances the club hopes to offer its members greater privileges in the future. The December one-day meeting showed a profit of £1408 18/10, and the June oneday meeting a profit of £610 12/10, notwithstanding that the cancellation of the May meeting (owing to exceptionally bad weather) cost the club £211 6/2. Taxes at the two meetings were £1160 in December and £1400 in June. The principal items of receipts in connection with each meeting were: Gate money, £575 14/ (December) and £528 0/3 (June); totalisator,- £2875 16/9 and £2396; totalisator dividend tax. £1118 2/ and £931 9/; stakes tax, £11 17/3 and £14; nomination and acceptance fees, £320 10/ and £350; racecard sales, £162 1/6 and £156 5/; booth rights, £125 and £105. Repairs and maintenance cost the club £847, and wages and salaries £491 16/, with general expenses £312 15/3.

A GOOD EFFORT.

Skyway, who won two events at the recent Poverty Bay Hunt meeting, including the Bracelet, was brought north for the. Bracelet at Ellerslie last Saturday. He was well back till the sttaight was reached and then put in a great run to finish second to_ Awhiowhio, beating the favourite, Hirangi, by half a head. As Skyway was conceding the winner just on two stone it was an .lent effort.

MAORI MAID PLACED. TALKIVG'S SOUND TRIAL. GENETOUT AGAIN LAME. SYDNEY, August 24. Maori Maid ran second to Silver Wave the Trial Handicap at Wyong to-day. The French racehorse Genetout 'will be absent from the Warwick Farm meeting on Saturday. He was again very lame after trotting a short distance at Randwick. Talking, in a private trial at Roeehill, ran six furlongs in 1-laVi in the centre of the course. Gold Rod, Disalto, Mala, The Chanter and Ajax provided most interest at Randwick. All put up good performances.
