THE WINTER SHOW.
INTEREST IN MODELS. OUTSTANDING EXHIBITS, There wae keen interest in the model aeroplane flying competitions at the Winter Show last night. The models, whieh had been on display in the NewZealand Model Aeroplane Club's exhibition, were flown from a dais in a space formerly occupied by the dogs. At 7.30 o'clock, when the flying wae in full swing, crowds packed *the° shed and, with faces turned upward, watched the circling models almost in silence. In addition to the aeroplanes this section includes a 32ft cruising launch, model yachte and scale models of old-time ships, many of which had been built with great attention to detail. A midget racing car, built by local enthusiasts. and capable of a sp'eed of 75 miles per hour, is also on display. Much interest wae also taken in the Personality Quest competition. The winner last night, by popular vote, was Miss B. Spiro, who sang "The Little Damozel." She will meet winners of competitions on the other nights in the final to be held on Friday night. An exhibit of particular interest to the farming community is that showing several cuts of bacon which were judged' on the hoof at the Auckland Agricultural and Pastoral Association's show at Epsom, and have now been judged as meat by Mr. Thomas Marks, of Auckland- The remarkable degree of accuracy in the judging ie shown by the fact that animals placed first end third on the hoof gained first and third as bacon. Two parties of children arrived from the North to-day to visit the show. One was from the school at Opononi and the other from Hokianga. f
