ARAPUNI POWER.
AUCKLAND'S CONSUMPTION. In the course of reporting to the Auckland Power Board yesterday that an under-charge of £800 for the June quarter had been made by the Public Works Department, in consequence of the use of out-size transformers in the Otahuhu feeder section, the general manager states that this brought the figures for the peak load in the June quarter up to 49,914 kilowatts, the highest in the history of the board. This figure indicated the value of the board as a consumer of Government hydroelectric power. Last year the board's payments to the Government for power supply amounted to £230,C11, and at the present increasing rate of business this year's payments looked like reaching £250,000. , Mr. Crookea remarked that the Auckland Board's consumption alone looked like paying the interest on the whole Arapuni power scheme, while the chairman, Mr. S. J. Harbutt, stated that the Auckland Board took a third of the total output of the Arapuni works.
