THEFT WHILE DRUNK.
NO TIME TO PAT FINES. "I was drunk." was the explanation George Green, farmer, aged 33. advanced in the Police Court this morning when he pleaded guilty to a charge of drunkenness in Victoria Street East yesterday, and another of stealing an overcoat valued at £0 0/ belonging to Lloyd Avery Boswell. Green, said Sub-Inspector Fox, was seen at 1.20 yesterday afternoon stealing the overcoat from a parked motor car. In June he was convicted for drunkenness and theft—similar offences. On that occasion while drunk he stole from a motor car. Green was fined 10/ for drunkenness and £0, or 21 days' imprisonment, for the theft. Mr. W. R. McKean. S.M., refused to allow him time to pay the fines.
