Three reported sales of Wilsons Cements at,£l 2/9 and quotations on 'Change between £1 2/8 and £1 2/11 maintained the j keen interest displayed in these shares in | the last few weeks. The Exchange this morning was moder- 1 ately active in several sections, values : showing strength in most instances. Banks, ; however, remained slack. There was reported business- in Commercials at 17/11, 1 and later sellers at 17/10. Unsupported sellers of New Zealands asked £2 5/. Gear , Meats with buyers at 19/1, Christchureh I Gas with buyers at the last sale price of ! £1 9/, and Kaiapoi Woollen shares were ! firm. Huddart, Parkers cum dividend had ' an improved demand, buyers at £2 2/6. bringing no response from sellers. New Zealand Breweries sold again at £2 10/. The market for Staples continued to improve with quotations from £2 13/ to £2 15/. In miscellaneous issues buyers of Beaths moved up to £1 2/3. Tobaccos were firm. Farmers' Fertilizers maintained their position, with a market between £1 0/8 and £1 1/. Hays, Ltd. (con.) were asked for at 17/3; no sellers. Broken Hill Proprietary recovered to £4 4/. Zinc, at £3 and £3 0/6 for the ordinaries and preferences respectively, seemed cheap in comparison with Sydney prices yesterday afternoon.
