POWER BOARD FRANCHISE.

CHANGE NOT. FAVOURED. Several local bodies communicated with the Auckland Electric Power Board at its meeting yesterday on the subject of the proposed Auckland Electric Power Board Amendment Bill, to be put before Parliament at an early date. Most of them did not view with favour the suggested change in franchise, which they considered would be found impracticable and not likely to give the same measure of satisfaction that is obtained under the existing system. *

The Auckland Board decided, on the expressions of opinion thus rev aled, to invite representatives from the interested local authorities to a conference at the board's offices on the afternoon of August 31 to discuss the subject, and also to invite the Minister of Public Works to attend the conference.
