CONTROL BOARD.

PONSONBY TO MEET RICHMOND. i WAITANGI SHIELD CHALLENGE I At tlie meeting of the Auckland Rugby League Control Board last evening, Mr. G. Grey Campbell presiding, the X enZealand Ma/)ri Advisory Board was granted the use of Carlaw Park next Wednesday, July 21. for the VVaikato Maori team challenge for the Waitangi Shield against Auckland (Taniaki), holders of the trophy. A hearty welcome was extended to Mr. R. S. Menzies, of the Xorthland League, a referee, selector and ground superintendent.

The series of senior games at Carlaw Park on Saturday will involve the second meeting this season of Ponsonby and Richmond.

Mr. J. Rukutai reported upon further developments in the Bay of Plenty, where the representative team last week beat South Auckland. The Bay team is to play at Tokaanu on July 31. Mr. Ivan Culpan advised having received advice that the Frankton Junior League was holding an official opening on the same date.

The curtain-raisers to the Australian matches, as recommended by the junior management, were approved, and referred to the New Zealand Council.

The Wellington Rugby League acknowledged. with thanks, as a sporting gesture, the donation of the proceeds of the Pon-sonby-St. George match at Wellington. A deputation waited on the board in regard to a proposed insurance scheme for schoolboy players. It was decided to give the matter favourable consideration. Transfer: R. L.
