MINISTER'S ATTITUDE.
SHOOTING OF BIRDS.
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.)
WELLINGTON, Friday
Although he was strongly opposed to cruelty he was not opposed to the shooting of birds in the open, the Minister of Internal Affairs, the Hon. W. E. Parry, told a deputation from the New Zealand Federation of the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, when he was asked this morning to pass legislation restricting certain sporting activities.
Shooting of birds in the ojien was great training in character, he said, and the shooting of pigeons in gun trials was practically confined to expert shots who could kill their birds instantaneously.
