A MAIL A DAY.

SHIPS FROM AUSTRALIA,

CARGO VESSELS USED. With the arrival of the Maunganui this morning began the receipt of six Australian mails which will be received in New Zealand at a rate of almost one a day. This has been achieved by the use of cargo vessels in addition to the regular mail services. The Maunganui to-day brought Australian mail and an English air mail dispatched from London on June 16 and 19. The Wanganella, arriving at Wellington to-morrow, will bring Australian and English mail and the Niagara, due at Auckland on Monday, will bring further bags. Other vessels carrying mail to New Zealand are the Kauri, arriving at New Plymouth from Melbourne on Friday, the Omana, berthing at Auckland on Thursday, and the Kairanga, expected here from Sydney on Saturday. The mail to New Plymouth will be the first arriving there from Australia for about a year. The cargo eteamer Yarra, which leaves Wellington for Sydney on Monday, will take Australian and English mail from the Dominion. The Yarra'e consignment will close at Auckland on Saturday and will bridge the gap between the mails to be carried by the Mariposa, leaving here on Friday, and the Maetsuycker. departing from Wellington on July 17.
