AWARD APPLICATION.
LOCAL BODY OFFICERS,
HOLIDAYS AND TEA MONEY.
Further consideration wae given in Conciliation Council to-day to the application of the Auckland Provincial District Local Authorities ' Officers' Union for an award to cover borough council, county council and local body employees. Mr. It. E. Price, conciliation commissioner, is presiding. Good progress wae made yesterday, but 'several contentious matters 4 were discussed this morning. ■ Agreement has been reached on a 40-hour week to ; be worked on the first five days between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Special provisions exempting certain employees engaged on essential and emergency work were tentatively agreed upon. Overtime is to be paid et the rate of time and a half for the first four hours and double rates thereafter. Annual holidays were referred to the Arbitration Court, but it was agreed that the annual statutory holidays, in addition to two other holidays to be mutually agreed upon, ehould be observed. Anniversary Day wae deleted from the Ust of holidays. Tn nddition-to'the ueual weekly wage, ordinary ratee are to be paid for all work, j done, on' holidays except in the case ."&' .."'tifaffic officers and telephone swrtphpoajift attendants, who are to be paid ■'barif-rates in addition to the ordinary rates for all work done on Sundays, Anzac Day and after noon on the day of the. half-holiday. The employers raised objection to the claim for 2/ tea money on the grounds that the f&te allowed under the majority of awarde wae 1/6. It was finally agreed that tea money ehould be paid at the rate of 2/ on the condition that the employees' request for a ten minutes' break for morning tea wae withdrawn. (Proceeding.)
