ESTIMATE EXCEEDED.
Commonwealth Budget Surplus £1,276,637. BUOYANT FINANCES. CANBERRA, July 5. The acting-Treasurer, Mr. R. G. Menzies, announced to-day that the Commonwealth's surplus for the vear ended June 30 amounted to which exceeds by £1,231,637 the estimated surplus when the Budget was introduced last September. The sales tax brought in more than £8,000,000; income tax, £8,586,000; and the Post Office, £15,787,000.
