SAX DIEGO, July 4.
The aircraft-carrier Lexington convoyed by four destroyers, departed' under forced draught to join in the search for Mrs. Putnam. They will refuel in La Haina Roads for Hawaii and will continue on to Howland Island.
The trip will require six days from San Francisco.
Mr. G. Putnam announced that a radio amateur in Wyoming heard a message on the Ki.OOO kilocycles waveband, believed to be from the stating that she was on a reef south' of the equator. Bad interference prevented reception of the exact position.
