DELAYED BY FLOODS.
CAMPING BY THE ROADSIDE
Some of the motorists who reached Auckland during the week-end from the North had very trying experience* as the result of the widespread floods earlier in the week. One Auckland party reached Kawakawa on Wednesday to find further pro<ress impossible, but they were able to reach Whangarei next day, where accommodation was at a premium, largely due to the fact that the Whangarei winter exhibition was in progress. • a The Auckland party next day got as far as Wayby. The road was submerged and they were marooned for the ni»ht In the morning i : fire was built at°the roadside, bread and butter was obtained from a farmhouse and toast was made. J , . The party on resuming their journey were further delayed in the Dome Valley, where a number of slips had 'occurred.
