TO AMALGAMATE

EAST COAST RACING CLUBS. (By Telegraph—Special to "Star.") TAUItANGA, this day. At ii recent meeting of the Opotiki Jockey Club a letter was read from the secretary of the New Zealand Pacing Conference asking w;iat steps were being taken by the club to acquire a racecourse on which to hold its one-day meeting, as it was not the intention of the executive committee to grant the club permission to race away, after the meeting held at Tauranga recently. The executive committee considered that if the club has no course to race on in the immediate neighbourhood of Opotiki steps should be taken to amalgamate with the Bay of Plenty Racing Club before June 30, 1937. At a meeting of the club last night it was resolved that, as the club could not procure a track, to apply to the Conference for. permission to amalgamate with the Bay of Plenty Kacing Club, who notified the Conference that It would agree to this step.
