COST OF AIR BASE.
£4,500,000 AT SINGAPORE. British Official Wireless. RUGBY, July 1. It was stated in the House of Commons that the total estimated cost of the military air base at Singapore was £4,500,000. The cost incurred up to March 31 last was £1,394,000. This had been met by contributions from Xew Zealand, the Federated Malay States, and the Sultan and State of Johore, amounting to £2;>0,000, and the remainder of the amount had come from votes for the Royal Air Force. In addition there was a gift of land by the Government of the Straits Settlements.
