CHRISTCHURCH, Thursday. The direct affiliation of the New Zealand Amateur Cycling Association at the discretion of that body of any amateur cycling club which does not wish to affiliate with the provincial centre is the , aim of a proposed amendment to the eon- j stitution of the association, notice of i motion concerning which has already been ! lodged. ! The alteration will be strongly opposed ' by the Canterbury Amateur Cycling Centre, which sees in the move a strong possibility of divided control of the sport in the various districts. The subject is bound up with the centre's long-standing ■ dispute with the Avon Amateur Cycling \ Club, prominent officials of which have ; been suspended by the centre. The arrangements made by the New ! Zealand Amateur Cycling Association for ; the presentation of the respective cases i in this dispute at a meeting to be held ! in Wellington on July 5 have also come in for criticism here.
