DOCTOR OT PHttOSOPHY.
Scholastic distinction has been achieved hv Mr. J. P. Belshaw, brother of Professor H. Belehaw, of the Auckland University College, in obtaining the degree of Doctor of Philosophy at the University of Manchester. Mr. Belehaw had a notable- career at the Auckland University College, graduating a Master of Arts with first class honours in economics, later acquiring the eame degree with first class honours x* history. In 1936 he was elected to a post-graduate echolarehip and .went to the Manchester University to carry out research work in economics. The sudieot of hie investigation was Crisis and SeadjHrtment Policy in New Zealand. Mr. Belehaw expects to return to «ew Zeal-uid almost immediately.
