SPRINGBOK MATCH. BOOKING PROBLEM. PREFERENTIAL SYSTEM. AUCKLAND ARRANGEMENTS. Scores of pound note* eent to the Auckland Rugby Union from enthusiasts in all parts of New Zealand for reserved seats for the Auckland - Springbok match on July 24 have been put in their envelopes and returned, with regrets, to the senders. Applications have in the last few days poured into the Rugby Union office, and up to £20 hae been returned a day. Old timers from all parts of New Zealand have written appealing for seats. The Bay of Plenty Rugby Union asked for 200, the Licensed Victuallers' Association, who will be holding a convention in Auckland, have asked for 100. Requests have come from Spirits Bay to the Bluff. And all the requests have: to be refused. A Sydney enthusiast a cheque to reserve seats for the Auckland match, the Wellington match and the three Te«=ts. His cheque lias been returned.

It has been necessary for the secretary of the .Auckland Kugby Union, Mr. T. W. Miiben, to prepare a circular letter expressing regret that no mail booking can be accepted for the Auckland mat.h. Reserved scat accommodation has developed into a serious problem for officials of the Auckland Union; it will be a problem for all unions throughout New Zealand, for that matter. consideration must be given to member* of the Eden Park Board of Control. They pay their annual subscription to the Control Board and their tickets admit them to all Rugby and cricket matches. There are about 000 members and they will fill what is known a- tlie members' stand after paying 2/ti ground entrance fee. Preferential booking has been given to the three *üb-unions. afliliate<l to the Auckland Rugby Union, but the subunions have many other sub-unions affiliated to them. Each has. been allocated 2-3 seats. Major Rugby unions have been allotted 15 seats each. All the Auckland Rujrby clubs have bc*-n allocated between 15 and 25 seats. By the time all these allocations have, been catered for, about two-thirds of the main stand, which accommodates 1400. will have been reserved. Preferential booking for the public has beou. provided for by e system of coupons, and it is exj>eeted that this system will account for the remainder of the main stand. A temj>orary stand holding al)out 400 will also be available to the public, and the enclosure in front of the grandstand ie expected to hold about 1000. On the day of the Auckland match the Auckland Union's working staff, including police, will total at least SO. Between 9000 and 10.000 school children will be accommodated in front of the picket fence surrounding the playing area.
