IDEAS FOR PARTIES: Paper Garlands
Gay coloured garlands strung across the walls of a room always .give a festive appearance and add to the brightness 01 a party. To make these paper chains yon require two or three rolls of crepe paper and flour and water paste.
The garland shown at A ie composed of paper rings slotted through each other. Cut strips of the paper measuring Bin by 2in. The first one is folded over and the ends pasted down. Thread strip through this ring and affain paste the ends together. Continue in this way until you have the required length of chain. The next garland. B, can be made very quickly. A lonjr piece of paper. Sin in width, has the sides pasted
together so that it forms a tube. From this tube 2in widths are cut and these are pasted one on top of the other, then left to dry. When opened out this chain looks Very pretty. The diagram, C. shows another type of garland. Make the rings of
paper, as for the chain at B, and paste them together at right angles to each other. A good finish for the ends of the garlands is made by fringing a strip of paper as at E. Draw the top with needle and thread and attach at different points to the paper chains. Figure 1 snows an attractive table decoration. The small celluloid doll has a dress composed of a wide strip of crepe paper gathered at the top. When the full skirt is spread otit the doll stands upright quite easily.
