COUNTRY WEEK.

HOCKEY FINALS. , HOLDERS IN AGAIN. LADIES' MATCH REPLAY. The fifth day's play in the Country Week tourney of the Auckland Hockey Association was of a thrilling character, and despite the shocking condition of the grounds, the games were strenously contested. A protest in the ladies competition provided the basis for many a sideline argument. In one particular match it was impossible to see which was the ball or which was mud. and in consequence the whistle was constantly going for penalties.

By drawing with Franklin B. Whangarei let Rodney A win the B section, so the finalists for the White Horse Cup are Franklin A and Rodney A.

The game between Franklin and King Country was well fought out, with the combination of Franklin proving superior.

The Provincial Cup was not completed, owing to the Waipa-Hauraki Plains having to replay as the result of a protest. The decision ot the committee went in favour of Waipa, it being held that the referee having whistled for a penalty ball, could not give a goal until after the bully had taken place. Waipa proved the best team in the replay, and then easily beat Thames in the semi-final.

Waikato and Plains finished with no score, and as darkness fell over the ground, it was decided to replay it this morning. Results were.—
