UNDER ONE ROOF.
MORTGAGE COMMISSIONS.
Nearly 4000 applications for mortgage relief remain to bo heard by the three Auckland City adjustment commissions appointed under the Mortgagors and Lessees Rehabilitation Act, despite the fact that an increasing number of applications are being withdrawn. S'nce .Tune 1, the names of 64 appellant rave been removed from the list, this figure being equal to the number of withdrawals during the previous five month*. With a view to centralising control, efforts are being made to bring the commissions under one roof in the British Chambers, High Street, where the No. 1 commission has been sitting since the beginning of the year. The second commission at present uses a room ;n the Government buildings in Customs Street, and the remaining commission has been accommodated in various rooms in the Magistrate's Court. When the commissions occupy quarters of their own, it is anticipated that their work will be greatly expedited.
