HEAVY POSTINGS. MINISTER'S APPEAL. " The Postmaster-General, the Hon. F. j Jones, to-day expressed his appreciation of the co-operation afforded arid t!i» publicity given by the Auckland Chamber of Commerce to the need for numbers!
of the business community to post early and so assist the Department's Auckland oTice in coping expeditiously with tinheavy postings made round about 5 p.m.
Following the change from 7 p.m. to 7.15 p.m. in the departure time of the Limited express, the Department was pleased to extend the closing time of the mail from fl p.m. to 5.1.5 p.m., although, the Minister added, the concession was granted to the public at some cost to the Department in pro- | viding additional staff. Mr. Jones has no doubt that it will be possible ito continue to close the mail at the 'later hour, but he took the opportunity of expressing the hope that the business i community would continue to afford the Department its full co-operation by posting correspondence as frequently and as early as possible.
