The fall of Bilbao was announced in a curt statement in Madrid, which merely said that the Basques had fallen back in good order to positions westward. Dispatches from Northern Spain state that the insurgents are pressing on with their pursuit of the Basques along the Bilbao-Santander road, and an offensive against Santander is already being prepared.
