Ihe theft of a saxophone and case, valued at £3.5, on June 14 was admitted by l.eorge (Jreen. a farmer, aged 33 when he appeared in the Police Court this morning. Detective-Sergeant McHugh said Green admitted taking the instrument from a motor car and leaving it in a city restaurant. He later handed it to a one-legpert man who iinsuceessfitllv tried to raise a loan oil it at a citV pawnshop. Green, who h'ad not been in trouble before, told the police that he would not have committed the offence if he had not been drinking at the time. It was a stupid theft committed while lie was- on a drinking bout," said Mr. Gallagher, who appeared for Green. Green was fined £5. or 14 days' imprisonment, seven days being allow'ed in which to pay the fine.
