KILTOWYN DOES BEST. TRAINING AT ELLERSLIE

After rain overnight the weather was fine for training at Ellerelie thie morning. No. 1 graee track was open, and there was a fair amount of galloping, the best efforts being those of Kiltowyn, Tybalt and Kelly over half a mile.

Tybalt (Wiggins) and Kelly (G. Gilchriet) reeled off half a mile in 52 l-ss. The first furlong was run in 13 2-ss, and Kelly just shaded Jiis companion at the finish, though both went well. Tooley Street (L. Dulieu) and Horowhenua (G. Gilchriet) covered five furlonge in 1.7, Tooley Street being in front when the post wae reached. Horowhenua wae eore after working, and is a doubtful starter to-morrow. High Star (McTavish) strode over six furlongs at a useful pace, Royal Appellant (J. Buchanan) doing similar work. United ran half a mile in 565, Kiltowyn taking 525, which was the best of the morning over the distance. Killadav, Don Erma and Belle of Bow were associated over a round, which took 2.4 3-5, the last six furlonge occupying 1.28 3-.3. The firet-named pair did their work in good etyle.

Whirling Goes Wen. Lucidus strode over a couple of rounds, finishing up by running the laet three in 43e. Gay Broney was allotted useful work, running his laet six furlonge in 1.29 3-5. Dark Shadow, after taking 42 3-5s for his first three furlonge, completed eix in 1.24. He went evenly throughout. Scotland jumped off at the five-furlong post, and come home in 1.7 1-5. He was going on nicely at the end. Ringshot and Melvanui covered half a mile in 52 4-se. It was a useful effort for these horses. Whirling finished in front of Light Comedy at the end of half a mile in 53 l-ss. The former revelled in the going. Adalene was hitting out nicely at the end of half a mile in 52 2-se. "She looks we!], but her form of late has been moderate. Modern Maid did strong work, running her laet bin furlongs in 1.30. Prince Acre was in froufc of Pirate King at the conclusion •>f eix furlonge in 1.27 2-5. They were not unduly bustled.

Tail Light was going better than Ellanui at the conclusion of half a mile in 53e, and over a similar distance Lord Val and Pennycomequick took 53 l-se. Peter Beckford did useful work over a round, coming home faet over the final furlong. A number of horees worked on the sand, including Valpeen, who covered a couple of rounds. He worked very freely, and looks all the better for his race on Wednesday. Bass Again Schooled. The only home to school was Base, who gave a good display over a couple of hurdles in the centre. He afterwards covered a round on the No. 1 graee in 2.3 2-5, the laet mile in 1.55 2-5, and the final six furlongs in 1.26.
