BLOMFIELD BEATS RUSSIAN
(By Telegraph.—l'ress Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. By a points decision Blomfield beat the Russian wrestler Kirjlinko in a professional heavy-weight bout last night. The Russian, a colourful and clever matman. had the best of the early rounds, repeatedly worrying Blomfield with shortarm scissors and taking a fall by this means in the fifth round. From then on, however. Blomfield set [ the pace, and in the seventh tripped Kirilinko, developed a toe-hold, and lose suddenly to his feet, amid the plaudits of the large crowd, with Kirilinko sprawling i entwineil in the toils of Blointield's dreaded octopus clamp. Blomfield had much the better of the final round. On hearing the decision Kirilinko strove vainly to address the crowd, and stamped l round the ring waving his arms.
