REMITS FOR CONFERENCE. The view that with the Dominionwide registration and licensing of all commercial gardeners they would be able to pay the basic wage is expressed in a remit which has been framed by the Auckland Commercial Gardeners' Society, Ltd.. for submission to the annual conference of the Dominion Council. Other remits passed read as follows:—That the Dominion Council be given additional financial support to enable it to keep district societies posted with up-to-date information of joint interest; that this council request an interview with the Minister of Labour regarding a Dominion award under the Agriculture Act; that the Dominion Council ask the Government to enforce compulsory registration of all growers of soft fruit, vegetables and flowers for market at a fee not less than £1 6/, equal to the compulsory subscription of a worker to his union; that this society request the Dominion Council to ask the Government to fix a minimum price for sauce tomatoes for the whole Dominion at not less than £10 a ton. The new president. Mr. A. A. Currey. presided ovsr the meeting, which agreed to send three delegates. Messrs. Currey. B. D. Robertson and C. R. Reader, to the Dominion conference. The following officers were elected:—President, Mr. A. A. Currey; vice-president. Mr. B. D. Robertson: secretary and treasurer, Mr. C. R. Read?r; committee, Messrs. C. W. Charman. L. E. Austin. A. J. Barclay, J. Wilber, O. G. Brightwelk and R. McClymont.
