Notice is hereby given that the Devonport Borough Council, In pursuance of Its powers under the "Municipal Corporations 'Act, 1933, the Rating Act, 1925, the Hospital and Charitable Institutions Act, 1926, and all other powers enabling it in thai behalf, intends on WEDNESDAY, tie 16th day of June, 1937, to make and levy for the year commencing on the Ist day of April, 1937, and ending on the 31st day of March, 1938:— 1. A GENERAL RATE of 4 7-16 d in the £. and 2. A LIGHTING RATE of 9-16 d in the £ upon the unimproved rateable value of all property as appearing on the Valuation Roll for the time being in force in the Borough of Devonport. 3. A HOSPITAL RATE of 3-8 d in the £ on the Capital Value of all rateable property as appearing on the Valuation Roll for the timeJbetng in force in the Borough of Devonport. 4. A UNIFORM ANNUAL FEE for refuse , removal purposes of 11/ upon all properties situate within the «sorough of Devonport as has a building erected thereon. (N fc ß.—This fee provides for the emptying of one regulation refuse receptable per building each week.) All the aforesaid rates to be payable in each case in one sum on the 13th day of July, 1937, at the Council Chambers, Marine Square. Devonport, to A. E. Wilson, the Council's Collector, or to such other person , as may from time to time be appointed to collect the same. The Estimates upon which the rates are being struck having been approved by the Council, remain open for inspection in the Council Chambers, Marine Square, Devonport/ The Rate Books and Valuation Rolls are open for inspection in the Council Chambers between the hours of 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. on all business days of the week. 5. A COMBINED INTEREST RATE of od In the ■£ on the unimproved rateable value of all rateable properties within the Borough of Devonport made for the providing of interest "and sinking funds on Special Loans will be payable as aforesaid for the period above-mentioned. 6. WATER RATES AND CHARGES: And notice Is hereby further given that, in pursuance of powers under the Municipal Corporations Act, 1933, the Rating Act, 1925, and the Acts amending the same respectively, and all other powers enabling it in that behalf, the Council will make and levy for the year' commencing on the Ist day of April, 1937, and ending on the 31st day of March, 1938, the following water charges and rates:— 1. WHERE WATER IS SUPPLIED BY METER : In respect of ordinary supply, as .defined by Clause 260 of By-law No. 1, 1926, the sum of One Shilling and Sixpence per Thousand Gallons, with a minimum rate of 7/6 (Seven Shillings and Sixpence) per half-year, except that water supplied to Government Buildings and lands will be in accordance' with By-law No. 7, 1937. 2. WHERE WATER IS NOT SUPPLIED BY METER: In respect of ordinary supply—upon all lands and buildings to which water is supplied the annual rateable value of; which as appearing on the Valuation 801 l does not exceed £25, a rate of Ten Shillings—exceeding £25 a rate of 2 per cent on such value. The above water charges and rate to be payable in every case in two < . half-yearly instalments, the first upon the Ist day of October, 1937, and the second upon the Ist day of April, 1938 3. NON-CONSUMERS' WATER RATES : 1 Upon all lands and buildings to which water . can be, but is riot supplied, situated within 100 yards from any part of the waterworks, a rate not exceeding one' half of the rates abovementioned, such rates to be for the year commencing on the Ist day of April. 1937, and ending on the 31st ■ day of March, 1938, and such rates ' to be payable in one sum on the Ist • I day of October, 1937. The above water charges and rates to be payable in each case to Alfred Ernest • Wilson, the Council's' Collector, or such other person as may be from time to time appointed to collect same. REBATE ON RATES. In accordance with Section 64 of the Rating Act, 1925, the Council has resolved that a rebate of £5-per centum be allowed to every ratepayer on the total amount of general and special rates payable by him (excluding water rates and charges), if such rates b e paid within thirty days from i the due date thereof.
