AUCKLAND CLUB. CLARKE DOUBLE VICTOR. HETHERINGTON WINS SPRINT. The Auckland Amateur Athletic and Cycle Club continued its winter competitions on Saturday at the Domain. The weather was fine, although the ground was still sticky and times were comparatively slow. In the 4000 yards steeplechase L. B. Clarke, a new member from the Mauku district, won from the 40s mark with 120 yards to spare. He also won the discus throwing with a margin of 13ft lOin. The shot putting competition was won by J. W. Murphy by 4in from the veteran A. Clark. The 75 yards sprint was well contested in three heats and a final, and was won by inches only by T. N. Hetherington. The events for ladies attracted much attention, the competitors being very keen. Miss I'. Sommerville, also from the Mauku district, won the 75 yards sprint in the good time of 8 4-ss, and also accounted for the shot putting contest. Miss J. Blacker won the discus throwing contest.
