SOUTHERN JUMPERS.
PANGO AND TANGLED. I SOME RECENT ABJEUVALS. SCOTLAND AND VALPEEN. As the semi-final gallops for the Great Northern meeting will take place at Ellerslie to-morrow there was little doing in the way of this morning. No. 3 grass track.was opeßy.<£nt ta©~bju'ikr of the horses were exercised on the sand and tan tracks. There was some schooling over hurdles and also over the steeplechase fences on the flat. Rozel (L. Dulieu) and Huskie (Fergus) strode over a round in 1.52 2-5, the last seven furlongs taking 1.44 3-5, and the final three 42 2-ss. Both horses look in nice order, especially Huskie, who bears a very bright and muscular appearance. Scotland (L. Dulieu) was allotted useful work, cunning Bis last, seven furlongs in 1.42 2-5. He increased the pace over tho final three which took 40 lrs s . This horse is in great heart. The stablemates Monastic (McCarthy) and Sky .Pilot (R. Smith) were allotted useful work. The former jumped off at the six-furlong post and was joined by Sky Pilot at the five. The full distance took 1.25 1-5, and the last five 1.10 1-5. The pair were going well within themselves throughout. Yalpeen, who arrived during the weekend, did strong work on the sand track. Tie is now looking better than at any previous stage this season and he is exported by his connections to make a good showing in the Great Northern Steeplechase. Royal Limond and Jolly Beggar were sent about a couple of rounds on the sand and were timed to run their last seven furlongs in 1.40 1-5. It was a good workout and this pair will strip in. excellent fettle for their engagements here. •T. McLaughlin will ride Royal Limond in the Great Northern Hurdles. Master Musk, who will be ridden in the Great Northern Hurdles by H. Jones, did st.rons paeowork over a» couple of rounds on the sand track. He hit out with plenty of freedom and has improved noticeably since he raced at the Bay of Islands meeting. Over Obstacles. Erase '(Craddock) cleared a couple of hurdles m the centre, shaping satisfactorily. He is engaged in the Hunt Club « up on the second day. but lack of racing experience may be against him. Tangled (McGovern) and Pango I Mel towed) were schooled over the steeplechase fences on the flat, giving a Rood exhibition. They trotted round and jumped the same fences again Without mistake.
