WARTIME EPIC.
New Zealand Freighter's Gallant Fight. ACTION COMMEMORATED. (Received 11.30 a.m.) LONDON, May 28. An Aberdeen schoolboy will have a month's stay in New Zealand in partial commemoration of the gallant, wartime fight of the New Zealand Shipping Company's steamer Otaki with the German raider Moewe. Relatives of the late Captain BissettSmith, V.C., the commander of the Otaki, in memory of the fight, have presented Robert Gordon's College in Aberdeen, where Captain Bissett-Smith was educated, with a shield which will be presented annually- to the boy preeminent in character, leadership and athletics. The New Zealand Shipping Company have supplemented the gift with the offer of a free return trip to New Zealand. The first winner, the school captain, sails for New Zealand on the Rangitata on June 24.
